Kim Delaney is an American actress best known for playing detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won an Emmy Award. Her other credits include her performances in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney was born the only child of her homemaker mother and high-ranking executive of her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney lived most of her life with 4 brothers. In her early years she was aspired to become a reporter for the court. However, after graduating from high school and relocating in New York in the 1980s and began to model, she was hooked. She starred in 1981 as a naive teen in All My Children. Delaney has appeared in a variety of TV movies, film as well as dramas in the years since. While she has a successful professional life, Delaney's personal life is not successful and happy. The skilled actor struggled with alcoholism and she has experienced two divorces. Her custody was taken away from her son in 2005.
